Flooring Installation in Sacramento: What We Actually Do

Plenty of flooring sellers will sell you a floor and wish you luck. Citadel Spaces installs across the greater Sacramento region, and this page sets out the actual scope: what we do, what we do not, and where the line sits. It is a more useful thing to publish than a promise.
What we install
Hardwood, tile and natural stone, luxury vinyl and engineered wood, and pattern and inlay work where the layout asks for it. Projects run from a single hallway transition to whole-home stone at several thousand square feet.
Every install starts with a free in-home consultation, because a floor cannot be quoted honestly from a photograph. Someone measures the rooms, looks at the subfloor and finds the problems while they are still cheap. Workmanship carries a lifetime warranty. Full detail on the flooring installation page.
Tear-out and subfloor preparation
The old floor has to come up first, and that is its own job rather than a footnote. We remove tile and stone, hardwood and luxury vinyl, and carpet with its pad. Dust control is HEPA-rated and debris leaves the site daily rather than living in your driveway for a fortnight. Pricing is a fixed quote, and most jobs run one to seven days on site.
Then the substrate: inspected, levelled and prepared, whether it is a concrete slab, a plywood subfloor or an underlayment-over situation. This is the step people try to skip and the one that decides whether the new floor still looks right in five years. See floor demolition and prep.
One boundary, stated plainly: on older homes we pre-test for asbestos and refer you to a licensed abatement contractor if it is found. We do not perform abatement ourselves. Sacramento has plenty of housing stock old enough for this to matter, and you should hear it from us before the job rather than during it.
Repair, when the whole floor does not need replacing
Not every damaged floor is a new floor. We repair plank lift and separation, water damage and cupping, pet damage and gouges, surface scratches, cracked or loose tile, and failed grout, matched and blended so the repair disappears rather than announcing itself.
Response is quick by design: most Sacramento repair consultations happen within 24 hours of the first call, active water damage is prioritised for same-day, and service is generally same-week. Quotes are fixed, documentation is claim-ready if you are going through insurance, and the warranty is in writing. See floor repair.
Commercial work
We work as the contractor's flooring partner across retail, restaurant and hospitality, office, medical and hotel projects. Materials are specified for traffic and for code, and the work is finished to inspection against CBC, CalGreen and ADA. We schedule nights and weekends where a trading business cannot close, and lead times typically run two to six weeks. See commercial flooring.
Where we work

What a job actually looks like
- Free in-home consultation. Someone measures the rooms and assesses the subfloor. Problems found here are cheap; problems found later are not.
- Quote. Fixed, itemised, and covering tear-out and prep rather than leaving them to appear afterwards.
- Tear-out. Old floor removed with HEPA-rated dust control, debris off site daily. Typically one to seven days.
- Substrate. Inspected, levelled and prepared, whether slab, plywood or underlayment-over.
- Acclimation. Material rests in the room before it is laid. In our climate this is not a formality.
- Installation, then transitions, trim and a final walk-through.
Workmanship carries a lifetime warranty. Commercial work is scheduled nights and weekends where a trading business cannot close.
What we do not do, said plainly
A service page is more useful for its boundaries than its promises.
- Asbestos abatement. We pre-test and refer you to a licensed abatement contractor. We do not abate.
- Structural subfloor replacement is a different trade. We will tell you when you need one rather than work around it.
- We do not quote a floor from a photograph. The in-home visit is free and it exists because an honest quote needs a measure.
Knowing where a contractor stops is how you judge the part they do.
