Acoustic Panel Calculator

Treatment covers a share of the wall area, not all of it. Choose how quiet the room should be and this works out the panels that get you there.

Calculating for a specific panel?
Pick one and its coverage per panel is read from the listing. No listing? Enter the panel size below and the maths still works.
The room

What are you treating?

The room's footprint and ceiling height give the wall area the sound actually meets.

Room length (ft)
Room width (ft)
Ceiling height (ft)
Treatment level

Twelve percent takes the slap out of a living space. Twenty suits offices and media rooms. Thirty-five is for rooms where recording quality matters.

How it works
1

Measure the room

Length, width and ceiling height. The four walls at that height are the area the sound actually meets; doors and windows stay in as placement slack.

2

Pick the level

Treatment is a percentage of the walls, not full coverage. Twelve percent calms echo, twenty balances a media room, thirty-five reaches studio control.

3

Panels to get there

The target area divides by each panel's coverage, rounded up. Place the first panels at ear height beside the listening position, where first reflections land.

Common Questions

ACOUSTIC PANELS QUESTIONS

The questions our counter answers most, before the first order ships.

Talk to Our Team
Do I really not need to cover the whole wall?+
No, and full coverage usually sounds worse, not better. A room needs some reflection to feel alive; the levels here land treatment where it works and leave the rest breathing.
Where should the panels go?+
First-reflection points first: ear height on the side walls beside the listening or speaking position, then the wall behind the speakers, then corners if boom persists.
What if my panel is not in the list?+
Enter its width and height and the calculator works from that. The coverage per panel is all the arithmetic needs.
Do doors and windows come off the wall area?+
Leave them in. Panels never mount edge to edge, so the openings become the slack the layout was going to need anyway.
