How many stacked stone panels do I need?+
Enter your total wall square footage and the vertical feet of outside corner. The calculator takes the corners first, because a corner piece covers part of the wall as it turns it, then fills the rest with flat panels and adds waste. Panel coverage is read from the product you are looking at, so the count matches the panel you are actually buying.
How are corner pieces counted?+
Corners are counted at two pieces per vertical foot, the standard for ledger panel, and each corner piece also covers about three quarters of a square foot of wall as it turns. That coverage comes off before the flat panels are worked out, which is why ordering corners is not the same as ordering more flats.
How much waste should I allow?+
Ten percent is the standard allowance for stacked stone and covers cuts and breakage. Fifteen percent suits a wall with a lot of cutting around openings, and five percent suits a simple square wall with clean ends.
Do I need corner pieces at all?+
Only where the stone turns an outside corner, such as a chimney breast or a column. A wall that ends against a return or a trim piece needs none, so leave the corner height at zero.
