Check the use rating in the Specifications above, since many porcelain tiles work on both floors and walls while lighter wall tile is meant for vertical use only. For showers and floors, look at the slip rating too.

Can it be used outdoors?

Frost-rated porcelain can move from indoors to patios and pool decks, while ceramic and decorative wall tile are usually indoor only. Confirm the freeze-thaw rating for your climate before ordering.

What about slip resistance?

For wet floors and showers, choose a textured or matte finish with a higher DCOF or R rating. Polished tile looks beautiful on walls and dry floors but can be slick when wet.

Do I need trim, and how much overage?

Order coordinating bullnose or trim for finished edges, plus grout in your color. Add about 10 percent for cuts, and more for mosaics or patterned layouts that waste a little material.
